“Sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer.” — 1 Peter 3:15
Questions can be a doorway
Teenagers are often sorting through deep questions about identity, suffering, justice, purpose, and truth. Rather than treating those questions as rebellion, we can receive them as an invitation to walk alongside them.
A calm, honest response builds trust. It demonstrates that faith does not fear examination because Christ remains faithful.
Practice humble confidence
We can be clear about biblical conviction while remaining humble about our own limitations. If an answer is not immediately known, say so, study together, and return to the conversation.
This models a faith that is both grounded and growing—secure in God’s truth and open to continued learning.
Try this week
- Thank teens for asking honest questions.
- Start with Scripture, then connect it to their lived experience.
- Avoid shame-based answers or rushed debates.
- Keep the conversation open after the first discussion.
Point toward a faithful Savior
The ultimate goal is not simply an informed opinion. It is a growing trust in Jesus Christ. As teens encounter His character and His Word, questions can become a pathway toward durable conviction and faithful action.
