“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” — Psalm 46:1
Resilience is formed in belonging
A resilient young person is not someone who never feels pressure. It is someone who knows where to bring that pressure. Safe relationships and a Christ-centered community give youth space to speak honestly, receive wise counsel, and remember they are not alone.
Belonging becomes especially important when cultural messages urge young people to build their identity on performance, approval, or appearance.
Name what is true
When anxiety or disappointment grows loud, we can help youth name the truer voice of God. Scripture reminds them that their worth is given, their future is held, and their struggles are not hidden from the Lord.
This does not minimize pain. It places pain inside a larger story of redemption, restoration, and hope.
Try this week
- Listen before offering a solution.
- Help young people separate a hard moment from their whole identity.
- Practice replacing one anxious thought with one promise from Scripture.
Grow courage through small acts
Courage is often cultivated in small, repeated choices: asking for help, showing kindness, telling the truth, or returning after a mistake. Celebrate faithful steps, not only visible outcomes.
